Climate change poses significant national security risks, a Pentagon panel of experts concluded after conducting research into the issue at the request of Congress. In its July 29 report, the panel stated that climate-related issues would degrade living conditions, security, and governments’ ability to take care of their populaces. The panel also noted that the Pentagon’s must consider changes in sea level, temperatures, and frequency of severe weather, when planning future missions.
