The Air Force’s top enlisted member is retiring. Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley will end his 30-year military career this summer. According to McKinley’s official Air Force biography, the Mount Orab, Ohio, native joined the Air Force in 1974 and served for three years before taking a break in service. Upon reentry, he served in medical and aircraft maintenance career fields. Among his numerous tours of duty included deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Before becoming the 15th chief master sergeant of the Air Force, he served as command chief master sergeant for Pacific Air Forces, based at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. The chief of staff of the Air Force will select McKinley’s replacement during his formal retirement ceremony, slated for June 30.
