Coast Guard Nabs 22 Trying To Enter U.S. Illegally

The Coast Guard Cutter Narwahl and an MH-60J helicopter crew intercepted an unlit boat carrying 22 persons suspected of attempting to enter the U.S. illegally on March 2. Narwahl’s crew spotted the vessel at about 2:15 a.m. in waters northwest of the U.S.-Mexican border. The migrants were taken into custody on board the Narwahl, and then turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents. Narwahl is based in Corona Del Mar, Calif., near San Diego.
