The Coast Guard Cutter Thetis offloaded more than a ton of marijuana on June 8, upon returning to Key West, Fla., after an 88-day patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Seapower Magazine reported that the cutter’s crew seized the contraband in March, with assistance from a Coast Guard MH-65 helicopter based at Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico, and elements of the Jamaican Defence Force. The marijuana had a street value estimated at $2 million.
