The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma intercepted an overloaded 40-foot freighter off the coast of Long Island, Bahamas, Jan 4, and repatriated its passengers to Cap Hatien, Haiti. Tahoma’s crew was operating on the Cutter Bear at the time, because their vessel is undergoing an overhaul. Before carrying the Haitians back to their homeland, Tahoma’s crew provided them with food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention.
