An upcoming exhibition at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News, Va., will focus on artworks that focus on the military men and women who served and are now serving in conflicts. The show, called In the Line of Duty: The Art of America’s Armed Forces, opens July 25 and will continue through Nov. 1. Highlighted are more than 200 artistic interpretations of troops in battle and at rest, dating back to the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. Represented artists include Thomas Hart Benton, Winslow Homer, Reginald Marsh, and James Montgomery Flagg. Many of the items are on loan to the museum from the Navy and Marine Corps.
