The delivery service DHL Express is joining together with generous citizens of New York to make sure that troops serving in Afghanistan and Bahrain are not bereft of holiday cheer. For the 11th straight year, the company will transport menorahs, fresh Christmas trees, letters and packages to those deployed troops. On Dec. 8, the New York Police Department escorted a motorcade of DHL vehicles to JFK International Airport, where the cargo was sent off to its destinations by local school children, Girl Scouts, a USO troupe, and Santa Claus himself. New York-area donors included Dees’ Nursery, Adelis International Security, Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Proctor-Hopson Post 1896 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary.
