The Defense Department is making the materials available at its 197 libraries on military installations available online for free to all active duty, and National Guard and reserve service members and their families, 24 hours a day. Available materials include a wide array of children’s books, auto and home repair manuals, high school and college education publications, military career enhancement books, as well as standard reference books found in any library. The announcement comes after a soft "launch" in July proved successful, with the distribution of 8,723 e-books and 1,860 audio books.
