The Pentagon released details of its plan to comply with President Trump’s call for a federal civil-service hiring freeze. While the freeze applies to all civilian positions, there are exceptions for persons working directly in critical roles, to include:
• First responders
• Cyber security
• Mission and operations support
• Treaty support
• Direct assistance to the president, secretary of defense, and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman
• Child care
• Medical care
• Space operations
• Nuclear reactor operations and safety
• Mortuary affairs
• Jobs that must be filled by foreign nationals
• Prevention of child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence or suicide at installations
