The Defense Department has placed another round of targeted pay hikes on the horizon for 2007, according to officials. The raises would range from 2.5 percent for E-5s to 5.5 percent for E-9s, and as high as 8.3 percent for certain warrant officers. DoD also is planning an across-the-board pay raise of 2.2 percent for all members, effective Jan. 1. In addition, the department plans to establish a new scale of pay increases for time in service for members who serve between 30 and 40 years. Currently the only pay increases members see beyond 30 years come from cost-of-living adjustments and promotions.
