Some active-duty Navy supply corps commanders’ records will face review by a 2013 Selective Early Retirement Board beginning Sept. 11, in order to bring the community’s numbers into line with force requirements. The board will look at officers who have not been selected for captain two or more times, and within the defined zone. Officers who hold approved voluntary requirement requests, with statutory requirements through the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30, 2013. In related news, the Navy canceled a planned early retirement board for Special Duty Officer oceanographer captains and commanders. A sufficient number officers in the oceanography community accepted voluntary requirement requests.
