The deadline is approaching Marine Corps enlisteds who want to submit applications to become officers through the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Program. Marine Corps Recruiting Command must receive applications by May 28, but Marines attached to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific must submit their command-approved paperwork by April 30. Applicants should expect a more stringent review process this year. "The Marine Corps isn’t hurting for officers anymore," said 2nd Lt. Derek DeBoy, the adjutant for Headquarters and Service Battalion’s MarForPac. Applicants must hold at least an E-5 rank, be between 20 and 26 years old, and have served in the Marine Corps at least three years as of May 28. Candidates may not have been subject to general or special court-martial, have first-class physical fitness test and combat fitness test scores, earn 74 or higher on the Armed Forces Qualification Test, and at least a score of 1,000 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT. The selection board will meet Aug. 24.
