Exercise Tests Response to Catastrophes

The Navy conducted a service-wide test of its personnel accountability systems to determine what refinements, if any, should be incorporated in the event of a disaster or major catastrophe. At the beginning of the exercise, held Feb. 25-29, Navy commands received a message ordering them to muster and account for all hands and family members in their area. The Navy planned to gather and assess the information to determine the personnel accounting system’s efficacy, plan how to track members and their families, and determine how to best help families in emergency situations.
