F-15 Crashes; Pilot Killed

Air Force Lt. Col. Morris “Moose” Fontenot Jr., died Aug. 29 when his F-15C Eagle jet crashed in Virginia. Fontenot, attached to the 104th Fighter Wing, Massachusetts Air National Guard was flying to Naval Air Station New Orleans, La., for a radar-systems upgrade, when air traffic control lost contact with his plane. He had reported an in-flight emergency shortly before disappearing. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
