Six F-35B fighter aircraft landed on the amphibious assault ship Wasp May 18 to begin two weeks of operational testing, Reuters reported. A team of Marine Corps pilots, maintenance workers and logisticians made the trip as well. Assuming the testing is successful, the Marine Corps then would be ready to stand its first shipboard operational squadron by sometime in July, according to the report.
