The Air Force Recruiting Service has selected 211 applicants, including 35 enlisted airmen, out of a pool of 542 applicants to attend officer training school. A selection board made their choices after reviewing the applications, basing results on academic discipline, grade point average, and scores on the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test. They also considered subjective factors such as work experience, character, leadership ability, and potential for future growth. Selectees will attend basic officer training at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., beginning sometime next year. The list of selectees is available online at www.rs.af.mil.

Guidelines Issued for Leave To Obtain Legal Marriage Following Defense Department policy, the Marine Corps issued guidelines for service members who wish to travel to jurisdictions in order to get married legally. The guidance is intended to clarify parameters for same-sex couples who wish to marry, and thus become eligible for shared spousal benefits. Those stationed within the continental U.S. can receive as much as seven days’ administrative absence, including as many as two days for travel. Those outside the continental U.S. can receive up to 10 days’ administrative leave, including five days for travel. The duration of granted leave would depend on a number of factors, including jurisdictional waiting periods and travel time. In cases involving two service members, both members would be granted the administrative leave. Commanders must approve all leave requests. Other guidelines apply.
