The FBI is launching an investigation into the shootings that took place at the Pentagon, and the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va., and a Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly, Va., within days of each other. The probe comes after ballistics tests concluded that the shots, which struck the museum on Oct. 17, and the Pentagon on Oct. 19, came from the same weapon. Both incidents occurred in the middle of the night; there were no injuries, but the museum sustained some damage. The FBI is also trying to determine if another similar overnight shooting at a Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly, Va., is related to two prior incidents. Persons who witnessed suspicious activity at any of the three locations can call Crime Solvers at (866) 411 TIPS (8477), or text “TIP187” plus their message to CRIMES/274637 using their mobile phones.
