Air Force fighters intercepted four Russian Tu-95 “Bear” bombers July 4, Business Insider reported. The first encounter, between two of the bombers and two F-22 Raptors, took place off the coast of Alaska early in the morning. The second encounter involved two F-15 Eagle fighters and two Bears, at 8 a.m. Pacific time off the central California coast. Although the report stated that the Russian planes were headed toward the U.S. mainland, they did not enter U.S. airspace in either incident.
