The Senate confirmed Army Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody as the first female four-star general in the U.S. Armed Forces on July 24. In her new position, Dunwoody will head U.S. Army Materiel Command at Fort Belvoir, Va. Dunwoody brings 33 years of experience to the job, including command stints at: the 5th Quartermaster Detachment, 33th Maintenance Battalion, 29th Area Support Group, Germany; Division Support Command, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y., and Combined Support Command, Fort Lee, Va. Before earning her fourth star, Dunwoody served as Army Materiel Command’s deputy commanding general and chief of staff.
