The first female students arrived at School of Infantry-West (SOI-W) on Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 6. Their presence marked the first time male and female Marines would go through Marine Combat Training together. Previously, all female Marines attended combat training at Camp Geiger, N.C. The 40 women, and their male colleagues, are taking the 29-day course in which entry-level Marines in non-infantry related military occupational specialties learn basic combat skills.
