Service members who will move under permanent change of station (PCS) orders this summer should take steps to ensure their new medical information is up to date before they move, Pentagon health-care officials advise. Dr. Charles Rice, the Defense Department’s acting secretary for health affairs, advised the manpower and reserve affairs chiefs of each service in May to include PCS information in PCS orders. In turn, service members who receive those orders should visit www.tricare.mil/bwe, TRICARE’s beneficiary enrollment Web (BWE) site, and enter any relevant enrollment changes and contact information updates into their profiles. BWE allows service members to enter the updates by logging in with either a Common Access Card (CAC), myPay PIN number, or Department of Defense self-service logon. Service members should contact the medical treatment facility at their new duty station before they move, to determine whether they can enter such changes via the Web. The Defense Department estimates that as many as 400,000 service members will PCS this summer.
