Gift Certificate Company Shuts Down

CertifiChecks Inc., the Dayton, Ohio, company that provided gift certificates to commissary customers since 2002, has ceased operations. The Defense Commissary Agency advises all holders of the company’s gift certificates not to use them. In an announcement on its Web site, www.certifichecks.com, the company advised holders to submit the gift certificates “for potential reimbursement” to CertifiChecks, Inc., Attn: Redemption Dept., 1435 Shoup Mill Road, Dayton, Ohio, 45414. “What has happened to CertifiChecks is similar to what is going on today with many businesses being adversely affected by the current economic downturn,” DeCA stated in an announcement on its Web site, www.commissaries.com. “Unfortunately, in this case the situation directly affects commissary customers.”
