Guard Status: More Than 127k Now Serve

As of March 24, 127,499 reserve and National Guard members are serving in uniform. The Army Guard and reserve has the greatest representation by far, with 98,491, followed by the Air Guard and reserve, with 14,352. Another 7,389 Marine reservists, 6,552 Navy reservists, and 665 Coast Guard reservists are also on active duty. The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps figures represent increases, while the Air Force’s is a slight drop and the Coast Guard’s holds steady. The figures rise and fall as units are called up and deactivated.
