Hagel: End Transgender Bar

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel expressed support for changing the Pentagon policy that bars transgender persons from military service. Speaking on ABC-TV’s This Morning May 10, Hagel said he would be “open” to a review of the bar. “I go back to the bottom line – every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity if they fit the qualifications and can do it,” Hagel said.
