Hagel Expresses Condolences to French Counterpart

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel contacted Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French defense minister, to express formal condolences in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the Paris editorial offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical publication. Hagel also offered U.S. military support to Le Drian, during a Jan. 9 conversation that had been scheduled before the Jan. 7 attack, in which two gunmen killed 13 persons.
