The Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA) says, “Pack it well and mail it early” for the holiday mailing season from Nov. 15 through Jan. 10. MPSA official Mark J. DeDomenic also advised using nylon tape or other reinforced packing tape, and offered other recommendations to speed delivery: remove batteries from electronics items; fill out customs labels completely; use a proper military address; do not mail packages with hazardous substance or alcohol markings on the outside; use strong boxes and pack them well. The Defense Department set recommended holiday mail dates Oct. 31. The first deadline occurs Nov. 12 for Parcel Post items headed overseas to APO and FPO ZIP codes. Deadlines for other mail classes: Nov. 26 for Space Available Mail; Dec. 3, Parcel Airlift Mail; Dec. 10, Priority Mail; and Dec. 19, Express Mail.
