How Marines Can Go to War

On the heels of the Marine Corps Commandant’s published intent that every active duty Marine have a chance to fight (previous item), the Corps published MarAdmin 057/07. That message explains that, “outside of scheduled unit deployments, the Individual Augment (IA) process offers “one of the best opportunities for individual Marines to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom.” Marines wanting an IA assignment should submit an Administrative Action form via their chain of command (COC). Lieutenant colonels and colonels are required to include the first general officer in their COC.
