Hundreds of AF NCOs to be Retrained
More than 500 Air Force noncommissioned officers face involuntary retraining into undermanned career fields by the end of the year. This follows a voluntary phase of the fiscal 2007 NCO Retraining Program, wherein some 560 applications were accepted, barely more than half of the 1,073 the Air Force needs to retrain. The service is notifying three times as many airmen as they need to retrain, in an effort to make the goal with the least hardship to the NCOs. Those receiving a notice saying they are being considered for involuntary retraining should submit retraining applications by Feb. 28. Those who don’t will not be eligible for re-enlistment or promotion. NCOs affected should visit the Contact Center via http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/.
