The Air Force has tapped Huntsville, Ala.-based Lockheed Martin Space to produce a hypersonic conventional strike weapon. The $928 million contract entails design, development, engineering, systems integration, test, logistics planning, and aircraft integration of the system. The contract stipulates that the project has no ceiling or delivery date of a finished system. Air Force Life Cycle Management, based at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., is listed as the contracting activity. Work will take place at Lockheed’s Huntsville facility.
