The armed services are gearing up preparations for their role in support of the presidential inauguration, which will take place on the U.S. Capitol steps next Jan. 20. Each active and reserve-component will be represented, serving as honor guards, salute batteries, and honor cordons, and providing music. To coordinate the efforts, the 450-member Joint Task Force – National Capital Region will organize the expected 5,000 uniformed personnel expected to take part in ceremonial activities. The task force is seeking applications from organizations across the country that wish to march in the inaugural parade. Submission forms are available online at www.2013InaugurationParade.mil. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will make selections shortly after Election Day in November.
