Enlisted Sailors taking orders to Japan may now choose the U.S. East or West Coast for their follow-on tour. In addition to cultural experiences, Sailors can benefit from overseas housing allowance and cost of living allowance. Plus, some Japan billets now offer assignment incentive pay. “The most obvious incentive is the rare opportunity for a Sailor or Navy family to live in Japan and immerse themselves in the cultural experience,” said the enlisted distribution and community management deputy, Capt. Kim Parker. Another incentive is the ease of travel to other exotic destinations in Asia. After completing the tour, Sailors will receive the choice of coast guarantee, based on valid requirements and in accordance with sea or shore rotation. Sailors must submit a coast selection by NAVPERS 1306/7, Enlisted Personnel Action Request, 12-15 months prior to their projected rotation date.
