Before the Republicans assume control of the House, the present 111th Congress will meet Nov. 15 for one more lame duck session and consider several pieces of important legislation addressing military and veterans’ issues, the Fleet Reserve Association reports. Beside the 2011 defense authorization bill, lawmakers also must act to resolve concerns over Medicare physician reimbursement rate cuts, proposals to end dollar-for-dollar "concurrent receipt" offsets for recipients of both VA disability and military retirement pay, retroactive early retirement credit for mobilized reservists, and ending offsets that affect recipients of both survivor benefit plan (SBP) and VA dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) payments dollar for dollar, FRA reports.
