Service members can accrue and retain as many as 75 days of annual leave during the course of a fiscal year, through the end of Sept. 30, 2013, when FY 2013 ends. Though the law limits annual-leave accrual per fiscal year to 60 days, the 2008 defense bill carried language that extended the number of days to 75. But that extension was supposed to end on Dec. 30, 2010. In passing the 2010 defense bill, Congress approved the latest extension.
