Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) signed a commercial sponsorship agreement July 15 with Bantam Dell Publishing Group, a division of Random House, Inc., that will bring Louis L’Amour paperback novels to Sailors serving aboard ships and submarines worldwide. Under the commercial sponsorship agreement with Bantam Books, 44,448 copies of Louis L’Amour paperback novels will be provided to ships through the Afloat Library Program. The first shipments should start arriving aboard ships in three to four weeks. Each of the four Navy Fisher Houses also will receive Louis L’Amour paperbacks. Another 4,000 copies will be provided for use in holiday gift boxes being prepared by Navy MWR Bahrain for service members serving in the Naval Forces Central Command area of operations. L’Amour, a popular American writer who was known for his fast-moving paperback westerns, wrote 120 books, which are all still in print.
