All components of the armed services either met or exceeded March recruiting goals. The Marine Corps added 2,017 new members, 43 percent more than the projected goal of 1,411. The Marine Reserve added 579 recruits, slightly ahead of its goal of 566. The active-duty Army added 6,548 new soldiers, slightly higher than its goal of 6,425; the Army Guard added 6,255 new soldiers, ahead of its goal of 4,974, and the Army Reserve reported 4,771 new members, ahead of his goal of 3,445. The active-duty Air Force added 2,748 new members, three more than its goal of 2,745; the Air Force Reserve met its goal of 825 members exactly; and the Air National Guard reported 933 new members, with a goal of 840. The active-duty Navy also met its exact goal of 2,857, as did the Navy Reserve, with 654 new members.
