Roughly 320 Marines from Company I and Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, departed Twentynine Palms Air Ground Marine Combat Center, Calif., for Afghanistan on Oct. 5, to support fellow Marine units already in place there. The Company B, 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, also left Twentynine Palms the same day for Iraq, where they will help deconstruct forward operating bases used by Marines during previous deployments.
