Marines Expand Bronze Star Eligibility

Marine Corps Forces Central Command has broadened eligibility for meritorious awards of the Bronze Star Medal. The new policy will authorize the award for Marines whose duties place them at increased risk of exposure to the effects of enemy hostilities. This parallels a Navy change reported by Armed Forces news previously that also refers to the risk of exposure as a criterion for the award. The Marines have not changed the criteria for awarding a Bronze Star with the combat V device for valor.
