Because of expected end-strength increases for the Marine Corps (previous item), Marine officials have lifted the cap on the number of re-enlistments that can be approved within military occupational specialties. Overfilled specialties that were closed on Oct. 1, 2006, have been re-opened to Marines whose enlistments are expiring as well as for those who were released within the last 90 days. Marines involved will be eligible for full re-enlistment bonuses. Reduced bonuses also are available for Marines who have been out of the Corps more than 90 days on the following basis: between 90 days and a year — 80 percent; from a year up to four years — 60 percent. The Marines expect to expand by 5,000 a year to meet the end strength hike of 22,000. For more information, see MarAdmin 632/06.
