Effective June 24 the Marine Corps switches its flexible bonus multiples to flat-rate Selective Re-enlistment Bonuses. The new bonuses can amount to as much as $80,000 for some Marines, up from $60,000 under the previous system. Actual bonuses paid will depend upon rank and military occupational specialty within each of five zones. Zone A applies to active component Marines with 17 months to six years of active Marine Corps service of which at least 17 months was continuous active service other than for training. Marines with six to 10 years of service fall into Zone B. Those with 10 to 14 years of service are in Zone C. Zone D is for Marines with 14 to 18 years of service, and Zone E for 18 to 20 years.
