The Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems a $113.5 million contract to produce 26 more amphibious combat vehicles (ACVs). The order would bring the total number of ACVs in the service’s inventory to 116.

The vehicle offers high mobility, survivability and adaptability the Marines need for conducting quick ship-to-shore deployment, BAE said in a statement, adding that it also would enhance combat capability on the battlefield. Once the ACV is fully ready to field, variants would carry command and control, recovery and .30mm medium-caliber turret platforms.

Assembly will take place in: BAE’s Stafford, Virginia; San Jose, California; Sterling Heights, Michigan; Aiken, South Carolina; and York, Pennsylvania facilities.
