The Marine Corps reinstated the tuition assistance program, intended to help service members pursue higher education during their off-duty hours. The reinstatement took effect April 8, following a Defense Department directive to resume the benefit for all service members. Marines who want to take advantage of tuition assistance should contact their base education service centers, the service stated in an April 12 announcement. Tuition assistance will not be approved retroactively for courses Marines enrolled in before the April 8 decision to reinstate it, the service announced.
