The Marine Corps has implemented a policy change concerning certain awards from the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. When temporarily assigned to another service in support of combat operations, Marines now may accept and wear commendation and achievement medals from that service without Marine Corps concurrence. This does not include awards with the combat “V” or awards above the level of a commendation medal. When permanently assigned to another service and filling a valid T/O line number, Marines may accept and wear personal non-combat awards, at the level of the Meritorious Service Medal and below, from that service without Marine Corps concurrence. For such Marines, awards of the Legion of Merit and above, and all combat awards must still be processed through Department of the Navy channels for concurrence. For more information see MarAdmin 350/06 of July 27, 2006.
