Military Recruiting Picture Turns Brighter

The Defense Department, which recently centralized reporting for recruiting and retention, has announced statistics for the active and reserve components for the month of June. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force met or exceeded their active duty recruiting goals: Army – 6,157 accessions for 109 percent; Navy – 4,566 for 101 percent; Marine Corps – 4,156 for 103 percent; and Air Force – 2,400 for 101 percent. In addition, four of the six reserve components, the Army Reserve, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and Marine Corps Reserve met or exceeded their June recruiting goals. The only components that missed their quota were the Army National Guard at 4,337 accessions for 86 percent, and Navy Reserve at 1,233 for 92 percent.
