Minority Colleges Receive Grants

The Defense Department has awarded $17.4 million in grants to 37 predominantly African-American institutions of higher education, under its Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Institutions program. The grants, which range from $245,000 to $574,000, will be used to augment research and education programs at the schools.
