The Navy is providing clearer guidelines for individual augmentees and their families in search of traditional support services. Under the rules, as spelled out in NAVADMIN 076/09 (www.ia.navy.mil/IA_Gram_4.doc on the Web), parent commands will handle IAs’ needs in four phases: pre-deployment, training, boots-on-ground, and redeployment. Augmentee coordinators with parent commands will help IA sailors ensure that checklist items during the four phases, such as registering family members for the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and the Navy Family Accountability and Assessment System (NFAAS), providing updates during deployments, and coordinating welcome-home activities, are met. More information for IAs is available online at www.ia.navy.mil .
