Marine Corps units extended in Iraq (previous item) are 3rd Battalion (reinforced), 4th Marine Regiment, from Twentynine Palms, Calif.; 1st Battalion (reinforced), 6th Marine Regiment, from Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), Camp Pendleton, Calif., consisting of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment (Camp Pendleton, Calif.), Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165 (reinforced) (Miramar, Calif.), and Combat Logistics Battalion 15 (Camp Pendleton, Calif.) The two infantry battalions will be extended for 60-90 days. They are scheduled to deploy again seven to nine months after they return from Iraq, assuming operational requirements remain constant. The MEU will remain in Iraq for approximately 45 days. It is expected to resume its normal schedule once its current deployment ends.
