Navy Announces Uniform Changes

Reacting to feedback from sailors, the Navy plans to introduce two new fitness suits to augment or replace the sweat pants and shirts of the physical training uniform (PTU). Once the testing is complete, the fitness suits should be introduced to the fleet by sometime in 2011. Also, pregnant enlisted sailors in pay grades E-1 through E-6 can temporarily wear the same service khaki maternity blouses, along with the winter blue maternity slacks or skirt, now worn by chiefs and officers. The Navy plans to introduce a single maternity uniform for all officers and sailors next year. Under another change, sailors can no longer wear the Air Force Space badge, now that it has been reclassified as solely an Air Force qualification.
