Chief, senior chief, and master chief petty officers can now wear an optional Chief Petty Officer Ceremonial Cutlass with full dress uniforms when participating in ceremonies, under new changes to Navy uniform regulations, which were announced March 31. The new regs also allow sailors to wear Navy and command ball caps with wash khaki, utility, physical training, coverall and flight suit uniforms. Commanding officers have the authority to allow wearing of ball caps with Navy Working Uniforms (NWUs) and Camouflage Utility Uniforms (CUUs) by bridge watch and command training teams. Sailors cannot wear ball caps, however, while traveling to or from exercises. Other regulations address other issues regarding wear of coveralls and the NWU. Details are available on the Navy Personnel Command Web site, www.npc.navy.mil, in NAVADMIN 118/10.
