The Navy is conducting its first-ever board review aimed at examining performance of chief, senior chief, and master chief petty officers, to determine who will be allowed to continue their sea service careers. The Senior Enlisted Continuation Board began its work on Sept. 21 at Navy Personnel Command headquarters in Millington, Tenn., and will pore through the service records of 3,234 E-7s, 1,678 E-8s, and 774 E-9s with more than 20 years of service and three years in grade. Those senior enlisteds not deemed suitable for retention will retire or transfer to the fleet reserve by next June 10. Details were spelled out in NAVADMIN 030/09 in January.
