The Job Advertising and Selection System (JASS) and JASS Career Management System (JCMS) have been offline since Aug. 29 due to the impact of Hurricane Katrina. Naval Personnel Command (NPC) has shifted to a manual mode of operations, whereby the detailers are taking verbal applications by telephone or e-mail instead of through the automated JCMS. Detailers have extended their hours to compensate for the extra phone calls and e-mails. The extra hours also will make it easier for Sailors stationed overseas to obtain orders. “The Navy is 24/7, 365 days a year, and we’re going to take care of our people no matter what situation they are in,” said Master Chief Operations Specialist (SW/AW) Patrick Lumley, PERS-4 senior enlisted advisor.
